Disciplines of Social Science

9 Common Subjects come under Social Science. These are following given below:

  • Anthropology
  • Archaeology
  • Economics
  • Geography
  • History
  • Law
  • Politics
  • Psychology
  • Sociology

Anthropology

Anthropologists study human language, culture, society, biological and material artifacts, hominoid biology and behavior, and even our shopping habits. It is a broad field into which new technologies and ideas constantly flow. As technology advances to more accurately detect and study exoplanets, anthropology could eventually be extended to the study of non-human civilizations.

Archaeology

Archeology is defined as the study of human history, particularly the history and culture of prehistoric peoples, through the discovery and study of ruins, buildings, and writings. An example of archeology is the study of mummies in tombs. Archeology has a wide variety of purposes, from understanding the History of cultures to reconstructing past ways of life to documenting and explaining changes in human society over time. Archeology means “the study of ancient history” in Greek.

Economics

In simple words, Economics is the study of people’s behavior. Try to explain what drives human behavior, decisions, and reactions when faced with difficulties and successes. Economics is a combination of politics, sociology, psychology, and History. The two main types of economics are microeconomics, which focuses on the behavior of individual consumers and producers. And the second one is macroeconomics, which studies the entire economy at the regional, national, or international level. With an economic background, anything seems possible. Other common careers and roles in business include certified accountants, stockbrokers, insurance companies, managing directors, retailers, price analysts, statisticians, financial advisors, and salespeople.

Geography

Geography is the subject in which we study places and the relationships between people and their environment. In this subject, one studies the physical properties of the Earth’s surface and the human society that spans it. An example of geography is studying where states are located. An example of geography is the Earth’s climate and natural resources.

Different types of Geography:

  • Physical Geography
  • Human Geography
  • Environmental Geography
  • Cartography

History

History is the study of transformations over time and covers all aspects of human society. Political, social, economic, scientific, technological, medical, cultural, intellectual, religious, and military events are part of History. The study of History helps to understand and solve complex problems and dilemmas by examining how the past has shaped global, national, and local relationships between societies and individuals.

Law

Studying law gives you the ability to solve complex problems, understand human logic, analyze real-world cases and gain logical clarity and excellent oral/written communication skills. Success in this area largely depends on your personality. For some, studying law means defending justice. It is a noble calling worthy of the highest admiration and one that the world needs more. But the law is not just for lawyers or the courts, as it affects every aspect of society, from protecting life and freedom to corporate or international relations to law graduates.

Politics

The study of politics is essential because it educates people about their rights in society. It has genuinely educated us on a fundamental part of our society. It has helped us understand that if we engage in political processes, using the pressure points built into the system, then every individual has the chance to change the world. Politics is the broad, universal, and essential study of how governments, policies, and internal relations work. Politics play a task in every country globally, whether federal, democratic, communist, or republic. The study of politics and governance addresses essential questions on the nature of power, authority, and management: who will get what, when, and how. Yet politics is quite this and concerns notions of freedom and agency in social choice situations.

Sociology and Psychology

Sociologists and Psychologists both study people. Psychologists study the minds of individuals or small groups to understand human behavior and social and emotional responses. At the same time, sociologists go beyond individuals and study society through specific associations such as family, race, or religion. , Etc. Sociologists often find work in the fields of social welfare, social justice, and social services. Psychologists are generally better equipped for human resources, sales, or other careers where they can apply their knowledge of human behavior. Although they both study human behavior, psychology and sociology approach the subject at a different level. Psychology focuses on understanding individuals, while sociology, as the name suggests, focuses on social groups, communities, and cultures.

Conclusion

Social sciences refer to all of the different fields of study that deal with the interactions between people, interpersonal relationships, and how society works. Social science is a relatively new field of science, having only emerged at the beginning of the 20th century. Social studies focus on sociology, psychology, economics, and education.
